Food and pie throwing

Who do you blame for food prices?
Republicans will yell "Biden"
And it sure looks like it, according to a chart, but Biden gave poor people wads of cash and a big boost to their food-cards, so I'd say he did right.
No, My question instead is, How to calculate inflation.

I can understand a price rising compared to last month or last year.
Put on the tape that blames russia, the weather, and birds, for things like sugar.

But I don't get when prices ostensibly drop (they don't, not by much, but go with it)

A politician can point to this chart and say proudly that under his rule, prices have dropped precipitously.
We all agree, I mean, there's the damn chart, right?
Pot roasts and steaks, affordable again, right?
Define "Affordable."
It's cheaper to order KFC than cook pot roast or meatloaf, and those are poor-people foods from hellhole countries (right?)
Inflation on Tamales is ridiculous. Well I haven't got any other examples, except Lettuce, which is over $2.00 now.

It might be for the poor but who could afford it?
The Govt could maybe coax the tax loss harvesters to lower prices.
To convince the "let them eat soup" class to give a little on price.

since 1969, prices have compounded 10X

but the poor are not 10x richer.

Google feigned ignorance about "compound inflation" and the above is google's best guess.
MY snarky retort is,
"This is why they do not figure in the price of soup when calculating inflation !!!"

I don't have any figures or wise statements except maybe that retail canned soup is not for poor people anymore.
There are women I remember who nag about throwing away chicken bones because they make good soup.
And me, acting all "Caligula" and tossing the bones and buying chunky!
Anyway I can't buy soup, my stomach wouldn't allow it.
Point being that zillionaires in congress have no fucking clue.
They rant on about "Dual Citizenship" instead.
Headline from 2015 before inflation went mad

Nobody anywhere contradicts their figures especially when they use computers...
It's the stuff they totally ignore in their figures that rankles.
Food is too volatile, fuel too, so they dump it.
Yet food has slowly, reliably increased in price over the years, as good as stock.
not 3%, it's more than 33%

If you thought the nice ladies and the smiling manager in your supermarket were altruistic (and not talking a little too loudly about you and your purchases), You'd be wrong, because once prices rise, they never drop.
Sales, sure, to prove they care.
(Only they don't)
I suppose (But then I'd be ranting) that runaway inflation blamed on foreigners and hellhole countries might pacify a few diehard believers.
But some people aren't buying it.

it's still inflation (not DEflation)
Stuff is still high (OK) and it's getting higher (gotcha,) But it isn't as fast as last year.
Sugar will never be cheap.
Beef is for the richer than God people.
But...Everyone's happy that under Trump, stuff is becoming more expensive more slowly.
(I think that's what they're saying)

"Tax Loss Harvesting"
Is a gimmick rich people use to avoid paying taxes.
As if they needed gimmicks!
But yeah.
Really rich guy, tax-loss harvesting

I have a theory... but it's way too complicated to contemplate or to type.
You own or receive profits from several companies, all of which provide you with your everyday needs, like FOOD.
