 Impoundment is something a president can try, to keep money authorized by congress from being spent, for whatever reason.

Rivian, a company I never heard of, was invested in by VW to the tune of 5 billion, so they aren't exactly a dinky outfit.

The USG apparently agreed, through the department of energy, 

to float them a 6-billion-dollar loan for a factory in Georgia.

But Unfortunately Rivian is a potential competitor to Tesla and might not get a dime of the loan, or they'll claim Biden is dumping gold bars off the Titanic...

New word of the day: IPOE which might just be what I use, it's hard to discern from the bullshit.

Let me get this straight: I set everything to DCHP and that is "IPOE"?

One can look up the various ranks, but I don't really want to delve into that.

Captain Carter becomes Major Carter for most of the series that I watched,

and eventually becomes a colonel.

Non-sequitur: Dr. Frasier has a rank I suppose, but they mostly ignore her and she dies rather suddenly.
Whatever the actual reason (I may google it, but does it matter?)

They didn't use her character enough, in my opinion.

She's the best-looking character in the series.

Take away the military pomp and everyone shoots meaningful looks while in small rooms and caves.

what rank was "General Hammond"?

So we don't go around calling everyone "Brigadier" like in UK shows.

They're just "General" and you have to count their stars.

I have always wondered at the way they film a typical show.
They use extreme closeups a lot, and I always thought that it was to save money on the scenery.

I wish to this day (after many years) that someone next to me didn't ask me about their rank or the leaves on their shoulder.
I'm a freaking civilian and can't be expected to know (ya know?) but assholes from hell ran me down telling the guy that not everyone was as ignorant as I.
