This incredibly complicated and politically touchy subject is too vast to cut-paste quotes.
In fact, I'll prolly erase it.
But some notes from the web:
(um)
Red Hair? Neanderthal.
"East Asian"? More neanderthal DNA (this statement conflicts with most other statements)
Depressed Type 2 Diabetic? Short and stocky? Neanderthal.
You gotta wonder (ignoring the vast minutia available)
WHY they'd stick DNA into a mouse, (are we breeding superheroes?)
WHY the large nose and biggie midface of stereotypical Neanderthals has nothing to do with asian faces.
Maybe "Neanderthal" is too generic, like "White People" etc.

East-asian (I need to brush up on my Geography.)
Once many years ago I Complimented Connie Chung's Face, and was told that she came from a certain area of China (I forgot WHICH area), as if it were a bad thing.
In other words, upper-crusty people differentiate. "Fancy" vs "Jungle" (they said it, I didn't)
O and the AI corrected itself and removed pejoratives like "jungle," So I looked it up:
| The NPR comment said it best, and I don't have to buy a geography book.... Chinese. for example, vs Filipinos, for example. |
that "Europe" consigned Huge areas to "Asia" or to "the east" (far and middle), and they go on about "colonialism" but I personally think it made it easier on geography teachers.
One note maybe: The people worrying about this stuff, and the videogame, worry about skull-shapes.
At least one link I'll try to quote says, neanderthal brains were bigger.
But The phrenologists tried to prove the shape of foreheads (especially in europeans) was superior.
The game (Bioshock-Infinite.)
The quote(s)?

OK This is a train-of-thought from another blog, but any time a knowledgeable article uses words like "Pseudoscientific" and other deprecatory adjectives, it is coloring facts with opinions.
Calling them out (like I just did) looks also like an opinion (it isn't.)
Thorny issue.
It cannot be overstated (yes, it can) that dry facts from a story are better than adjective-filled rants passing for news.
IDK if evolving takes everything into account: Really attractive vs plain?
They couldn't exactly discuss movies over coffee.
