Micronesia is very close (on a map) to the equator "ek wah Dor" (I just wondered) |
westerlies blow easterly.
Northeast and southeast winds cancel each other out (I think)
and anyway, they blow west.
Does it follow that a Nor'easter blows in a southwestern direction?
"west winds" besides being the name of some Motels or maybe they are restaurants...

Do "west winds" blow east?
So confusing.
Factor in the rotation of the globe, and phases of the moon, and the heat of the sun,
(I'm leaving now) Coriolis effect...

The math and the physics involved in my screenshot make their little analogy too impossible to contemplate.
Apparently a guy must reeeeeeally narrow down the train of thought ("what are "the doldrums" and how do they happen) or be blown away by hurricane-force bombasts about everything in the world for all time.
Two windbags meet, they blow (hot?) air and cancel each other, that's my philistine uninformed take on the subject.
2nd attempt at reality:
Yeah. Um, OK (there's a giant useless doughnut of wind at the equator?) Maybe it's more of an english muffin |
They *almost* made it, until the bombast about the "horse latitudes"...
The drawings are scarce and basically flat, and I draw worse than Steven Hawking. No one draws 'Z' (up) which is where the winds are going. I *suppose* (IDK) that the winds coming DOWN at the "Horse Latitudes" are just as pointless. |
Ancient mariners knew all this stuff but (the story goes) they didn't have enough food and water and dumped their horses (guess where?)

Quora is way no help (neither is Google)
"use a motor"
"Accurate weather (VHF/Sideband)"
Now I kind of know why Gilligan's Island dragged on forever.
Near as I can tell they'd row the crap out of the huge boat, and hope for changes in weather.
Here's my question (sort of): They *knew* about doldrums, and related things, was the world so f'n warlike and territorial they'd refuse to avoid the route (maybe plotting an arc around it) and instead lumber into doom straightaway? (straight-lines being the shortest route, unless you're cursed)?

The literary bombastic acrobatics of web-blogs are stifling, apparently "doldrums" are a literary trick.
You're fucked! They all seem to say.
*I* say, there must've been plans, schemes, alternate routes.

I wanted to write a nice intro for this next non-sequitur, but the intro would take too long and make you wonder why I was bringing it up.
Weather is affected by many far-away things, just like (this was the point) Oil prices.
All oil everywhere (apparently) is affected by a teeny country in the middle east. (Iran)
(And) The Arabs convene and decide what the oil production under their purview should amount to.
(So) the gist of this folderol, WHY have domestic oil production at all?
A rising shit-tide of oil prices raises all greedy-investor boats.
O, and anything anywhere in the universe can be handily blamed on Biden/Obama (whoever.)
Flustered investors (according to the article, "short-term", prices fell just a teeny tiny small insignificant margin-of-error amount) (Lnk) |
I'm in a mood. Raise the price!!
WHYyyy does this matter?
Peace it together: Bird flu in cows, higher gas prices, increased minimum wages,The weather, foreign aid(?!!) conspire as strange bedfellows
To Raise the Price of my Potroast!!!
Lettuce prey that politics worldwide chewses their words wisely, or no potroast for me.

Different train, I needed a place to park this esoteric clubby insider f'ng quote I hear endlessly,
'Ancient mariner / Let the vigor Undertow / Disperse the hated albatross!,
Which is a radio-quality recording inside an animated machine.
I always thought (up until 5 seconds ago) that
I always thought (up until 5 seconds ago) that
- The machine was quoting random esoteric phrases and
- The machine was saying "Wicked," not "vigor".
cryptic advice or just a bad commercial for the products it sells?
People wanna point out that the machine is speaking in Haiku (Big whoop)
and the machine's line refers to a poem (also an insider clubby thing you'd only know from school)
